ϟ Today is Ta’anit Esther

Today, we fast from before dawn, till after the Megillah reading, in order to commemorate, the three days that the Jews fasted, before Esther went to invite King Ahasuerus to a private feast.

Jews have fasted on the 13th of Adar for thousands of years now, even during the times of the Spanish Inquistion. Many Spanish Jewish families that outwardly converted to Christainity, continued to fast on the 13th of Adar. The women of the house would fast for the three days before Purim, for what was known as “St. Esther’s Day”. This name was the title given to the fast, in order to hide its Jewish origin.  These ‘conversos’ identified with Queen Esther, as she too, hid her Jewish identity.

Hope you have an easy fast, and a Happy Purim!

Im yirtzeh H the earth will one day be cleansed of Islam. by Anonymous

Every single thing in this world has a purpose. The Rambam says that the purpose of Islam and Christianity is to spread the concept of monotheism in this world to prepare us for Mashiach.

We, the Jewish nation, have had people threaten and try time after time to wipe us of the face of the earth, to “cleanse” the world of Judaism. In fact this week is Purim, when we celebrate our victory over Haman who wanted to rid the world of Judaism.

How hypocritical, revolting and dangerous is it for Jewish people, who themselves have been in the same position, to talk about wiping a nation of the face of the earth?
