IDF Soldiers Serving in the “Lowest Place on Earth”
The Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, and regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is also home to many IDF soldiers who serve in bases nearby.
They keep an eye on Israel’s border with Jordan and provide many other services within the IDF. They stop drug trafficking through the Dead Sea and prevent illegal infiltration into Eilat, a major tourist center

Weaponry and Ammunition Found on Palestinian Boat in the Dead Sea (by Israel Defense Forces)
Today the IDF and Israel Police thwarted an attempt by two Palestinians to smuggle weapons from Jordan to the West Bank. A rubber-inflated boat carrying ten AK-47s, ten matching magazines and approximately 300 bullets along with the Palestinian suspects, was apprehended by the IDF and Police in the Dead Sea. The two Palestinians onboard will be questioned by Israeli security forces.
