The Palestine News Agency Ma’an posted a story today about Israelis “digging up agricultural land and uprooting trees in the village of Khirbet al-Nahla in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem on Thursday.” The story dated 06/28/2013 was accompanied by a photo of what appears to be an Israeli with a kippa overseeing the operation standing next to an excavator or backhoe.
On February 23rd of 2012 the Ma’an News agency reported on Israelis planting Olive trees in Hebron. “Israeli forces planted olive trees on village land in Hebron overnight Wednesday, villagers told Ma’an. Locals said that bulldozers and military jeeps arrived in the village of Surif at dawn and began digging up land and planting olive trees.” This article published more than a year before the above article utilized the exact same photo with the same man and same machinery to depict an entirely different event.
The same resilient photo was published by the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on April 11th of 2010 to depict “Jewish settlers annexing Palestinian land south of Nablus” .
And was again used by the Palestinian Information Center on December 10th of that same year when they reported “-Zionist settlers south of Nablus city started on Tuesday to bulldoze Palestinian cultivated lands in preparation for annexing them to their settlement of Eli, reliable sources reported.”
It seems that Ma’an and PIC have found an environmentally friendly way to depict non-existent events, just recycle.
